Far to the north of Iran, not far from the legendary Caspian Sea, lies the highest mountain in the Middle East, the magnificent Mount Damavand. Sitting at 5 671m (18 600 ft) this mountain towers over all it surrounds and commands incredible views in all directions for those willing to venture to the summit.
In August 2002 a party of us climbed Mount Damavand and this is the story of our expedition in words and pictures.
